Maltman Medical is excited to be heading into summer. There are many upcoming events and lots of time to enjoy them with the whole family. 

• The Muse Knoxville hosts FREE family night every 4th Friday of the month. Muse is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM)  Museum located in Chilhowee Park. This would be a fantastic evening event to get the whole family involved. It is indoors, so weather is not a concern for this event. The muse is located at 516 N Beaman St. Knoxville, TN 37914. 

• The Fountain City Ministry Center offers a food pantry on the 1st and 3rd week of each month. They allow visitors from zip codes 37918, 37917, 37912, 37924, 37938, 37949, and 37721. They are located at 5364 N Broadway Street, Knoxville, TN 37918. For the month of June their schedule for the food pantry is as follows:

In addition to the food pantry, which can be visited once per week that they are open, they have a clothing closet. The clothing closet is to support children ages 8th grade and younger. The closet is limited to 3 outfits per child every 4 months.

It is important to note that the Fountain City Ministry Center is a spiritual ministry that offers all community members to attend a worship service at one of their sponsoring churches. They also offer prayer cards and bibles to anyone in need. 

• Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Covenant Health are hosting “Game On Against Cancer” on Friday, June 14th from 6 PM - 9 PM. This will include family fun, games, food, and an auction. This is being held at 10646 Dutchtown Road, Knoxville, TN 37932. *This event is a ticketed event, tickets can be purchased on the website as linked*
• East Tennessee Children’s Hospital has a lot of great snack ideas for the Summer. It would be a great time to teach the kids some kitchen skills and make some healthy snacks together. They have full recipes or brand ideas for:
• Homemade Uncrustables
• Low Fat Popcorn
• Low Fat String Cheese
• Fruit
• Yogurt Bark
• Veggie Lovers Pizza
• Protein Waffles

They make it easy by also having a youtube channel that provides tips and tricks.

Not only do we find it important to provide resources for the community and families, we also like to provide support for those going through addiction recovery. Addiction recovery holds a special place in our hearts and we love supporting those that are ready to make that step. 

Every month the Metro Drug Coalition posts a calendar of upcoming events and meetings. We encourage everyone in addiction recovery and their families to check this calendar and attend events. They have events specifically for the family members in addition to all of the events and classes for the person in recovery.
